Wedding Celebration Flowers

Hello Dear Subscribers,

When planning a wedding, it's a lovely idea to add your own unique touches to celebrate the occasion and make it memorable.

These pair of matching hanging wreaths covered with flower have been hung on the doors to welcome the wedding party and guests.

A foam wreath base has been used as a base, and it is covered with various shades of pink roses and green hydrangea.

Each one has a large bow made of silk fabric with an embroidered monogram and initials, one for the bride and one for the groom.

Method

A large round base with a plastic backing and floral foam has been used as a base for each one.

Soak each base in water for several minutes.

Bend an 18 gauge wire x 45cm (18") long into a U shape hook and insert it firmly into the top of the wreath base through the foam and twist the wires together.

Cut the stems of the roses to measure about 7.5cm (3") long, and starting from the outside and working to the inside, insert them into the base.

Place the green hydrangea into small clusters. Wire each one, by placing the centre of a 22 gauge wire x 23cm (9")long across the centre of the top of the stems. Twist the wires together and insert them in between the roses.

Spray lightly with water.

To make the fabric bows. Cut the silk fabric to the desired width and cut it on a slant each end.

Fold the fabric in half, wrong side facing outwards, and machine along the cut edge leaving one slanted end open.

Turn it the right way out (you can use a ruler to help you do this, inserting it down into the stitched edge).

Turn the cut edges neatly under and hand sew the edges together. Iron the fabric, so it sits flat.

Embroider the initials on the end of each one.

Form the fabric into a bow with long ends. Wire across the centre with a 22 gauge wire x 23cm (9")long. Twist the wires together at the back and insert the wire ends into the bottom of the base.
