Christmas time is a wonderful time to use your creative skills. This wreath for the door is made with green foliage, large red and silver baubles, red and silver ribbon, silver stars and red glitter loops and strands.
This door wreath is sure to offer a warm welcome to family and friends over the festive season.
The materials used in this design are:
Red and silver baubles Wide red and silver wired edge ribbon Green fir foliage Red glitter strands Silver stars Foam wreath base 22 gauge wire Hot glue gun (Caution, always take care when using a glue gun and follow the manufacturers instructions carefully.)
Method
1. To make a hook for the back of the wreath to hang on the door, take a 22 gauge wire by 45cm (18") long and bend it into a U shape with equal sized legs. Insert the wire ends into the centre back of the top of the wreath base. Push the wire ends through the centre top of the wreath base, twist the wires together at the front, cut them short, bend the wire ends over and insert into the front of the wreath base. Press the wire hook up to sit flat against the wreath base.
2. Cut the fir foliage into pieces measuring about 10cm (4") long. Wire pieces of the fir foliage by placing the centre of a 22 gauge wire x 23cm (9") long behind the end of the stem, wind the right hand wire twice around and bring the two wire ends straight down together. Cut the wire ends slightly shorter and insert the foliage around the edges of the wreath base. Repeat this step on the inner round of the wreath base.
3. Use a hot glue gun and place a dab of glue on the base off each bauble and secure each one in position on top of the wreath base.
4. Insert wired pieces of the fir foliage up evenly in the top of the wreath base.
5. Spiral the ribbon around between the baubles, position it so the full width is showing between the baubles and secure it in place against the base of the wreath base with dabs of glue. Hold the ribbon in place for a minute with a stick until it dries.
6. Glue the silver stars in position.
7. Fold the glitter strands into loops and wire them across the base by placing the centre of a 22 gauge wire x (9") 23cm long behind the end of the stem and wind the right hand wire twice around. Bring the two wire ends straight down together. Insert the loops in the top and side of the wreath base. Wire a couple of long strands in the same way. Insert them in the centre top and the base of the wreath base.
Wait for the compliments on the lovely design you have created !!!
