Table Centerpiece
Hello Dear Subscribers,
This month, I am going to show you how to create an all round arrangement.
This design is suitable for a table Centerpiece, as it can be viewed
from all angles, and it doesn't have a definite back and front.
This is a feminine design that features pink roses, mauve cosmos, white alstroemeria, misty and eucalyptus gum foliage.
(Optional) I have made a bow using soft mauve pink sheer ribbon with
satin edging and inserted it in the centre front of the arrangement.
Instead of using mixed flowers, this design can also be created using
one type of flowers such as roses and with foliage such as leatherfern.
I have used - 12 small pink roses Mauve cosmos White alstroemeria Misty Foliage of choice 1 pot Floral foam Ribbon 22 gauge wire Pot tape
1. Soak the foam in water. Place the foam in the pot. The foam
needs to stand about 2.5cm (one inch) above the top edges of the
container. Secure the foam in place by putting two pieces of pot tape
over the foam and down onto the sides of the pot for about 5cm (2"). 2. The
foliage is placed in a circular shape around the edges of the foam. Cut
the stems to measure about 20cm (8"long) and insert them around the
edges off the foam. Insert them up on an angle into the foam about one
2.5cm (1") down from the top edges of the foam, so they extend downwards
over the edges of the container. 3. Cut
a piece of foliage to measure about 20cm (8") long and insert it into the
centre top of the foam. Inset foliage, in widening circles, into the top
of the foam, cutting each piece to the desired length. As you get
closer to the outer round, the foliage will extend out more on an angle.
The foliage should form a rounded shape across the top when viewed side
on. 4. Choose the largest rose for the centre of the design,
cut it to the desired length about 15cm (6"long) from the base of the
calyx and insert it into the centre of the arrangement. 5. Cut
the roses to the desired length and insert four evenly around the
centre rose. The roses should sit just above the foliage. 6. Repeat step 5 with the remaining roses, placing these lower down in the arrangement. 7. Starting at the top, cut the stems of the cosmos to the desired length and position each one between the roses. 8. Starting at the top, cut the stems of the alstroemeria to the
desired length and position these evenly between the other
flowers. 9. Cut the misty to the
desired length and starting at the top insert them evenly throughout the arrangement. The misty should extend out about 2.5cm (1") past the edges of the other flowers to give a light dainty look. 10. Make
a bow with two long ribbon ends. To do this, hold the ribbon
15cm (6") from one end and form the ribbon into two figure eights - one
behind the other, with the bottom two loops slightly longer and fanning
out to the sides with another 15cm (6") length tail at the other end.
Wire the bow, by placing the centre of a 22 gauge wire across the centre
and bring the two wire ends down together. Twist one wire tightly twice
around the other wire. Cut the end of each ribbon tail on a
slant. Insert the bow into the centre front edge of the
arrangement. 11. Spray the arrangement lightly with water.
This arrangement is briefly explained. In our Floristry
Diploma Course, we explain each step in detail with diagrams for each
step and measurements on how long to cut each stem and exactly where to
position each placement. For full information on our Floristry Diploma Course please visit our web site on http://www.floral-art-school.com.au
