Cream Floral Design
Hello Dear Subscribers,
This year is going so quickly, I hope everything is going well for you and your family.
This arrangement looks like it is arranged in a basket, but it's actually a round gold cardboard box that has been used as a base.
A "handle" has been made by wiring each end of a thick woody pliable twiggy stem and inserting each end of the stem into the sides of the foam.
Using boxes for containers for floral designs can be very effective, and you can create designs that look a little bit different.
Lime green ribbon has been placed around the container.
Cream roses and peonies have been placed in the container with pieces of foliage extending over the sides for a flowing look.
A strand of foliage is wound around the handle to give a natural appearance.
The materials used in this design are: Feature flowers such as Cream Roses and Peonies Small filler flowers of choice Foliage of choice One round box Ribbon Number 5 small florist plastic bowl Florist foam One heavy 18 gauge wire x 45cm (18")long Fine 26 gauge wire
Method l. Soak the florist foam in water for several minutes. Line the box with plastic, cut a piece of plastic (a plastic bag will do) large enough to cover the inside and up to the top of the sides and place it in the box. Place the soaked foam in the number five florist bowl and place it in the box. The florist foam should come at least 2.5cm (1") above the edges of the box. 2. Cut a piece of ribbon to the desired length and place it around the centre of the box and secure the ends at the back with craft glue or a glue gun. 3. Cut a piece of thick twiggy stem to the desired length and run it between your fingers to make it more pliable. Cut the 18 gauge wire into two pieces. Place the centre of one piece behind one end of the twiggy stem and wind the wire twice tightly around. Bring both wire ends straight down together. Wire the other end of the twiggy stem and insert each end into the sides of the foam to form the handle. 4. Cut pieces of foliage to the desired length and insert around the edges to form an oval shape, inserting the ends up on an angle into the foam and having the tips extending downwards. 5. Cut 5-7 of the smallest roses to the desired length and insert them around the edges of the foam having the tips extending downwards. 6. Cut the stems of the largest flowers to the desired length and insert them into the top of the foam, having the centre flower slightly higher than the other flowers. 7. Cut pieces of foliage to the desired length and insert them between the flowers in the top, having them slightly lower than the flowers. 8. Cut pieces of filler flowers to the desired length and insert them lightly between the flowers. 6. Wind a long piece of foliage around the handle securing it in several places with a couple of twists of fine 26 gauge wire. 12. Spray lightly with water. Be careful not to spray water on the box and do not pick up the design by the twiggy handle. This floral design is briefly explained. In our Floristry Diploma Course, we explain each lesson in detail. There are step by step diagrams for each step, measurements on how long to cut each stem, exactly where to position each one and a colour photo of the finished design.
