Modern Topiary Arrangement In A White Vase
Hello Dear Subscribers,
I hope everything is going well for you.
We have been busy at the floristry school, and it's hard to believe we are almost halfway through the year.
For this month's newsletter I have featuring a modern topiary arrangement using red anemones arranged in a white vase.
The stems are tied together just below the flower heads with red ribbon.
This contemporary design looks effective placed against the black and white background.
For a base, you will need a vase with a small opening at the top
Method
Fill the vase three quarters of the way with water.
For good balance, the height should be at least one and a half times the height of the container.
Choose the largest flower for the centre and hold it between the thumb and first finger of the left hand about 10 cm (4") down from the base of the flower head. (Please reverse instructions if you are left handed. )
With the right hand, place the remaining anemones around in circles crisscrossing the stems at this point and placing each stem to the right of the previous stem and adding an extra two - three flowers each round.
Turn the posy around as you work and have each round slightly lower than the previous round to keep it a domed shape across the top.
When the posy is the desired size slip a rubber band up from the ends of the stems.
Cut the stems level and insert them into the top of the container.
Place a piece of ribbon across the back of the stems, tie it twice around to the front and cut the ribbon ends on a slant.
This floral design is briefly explained. In our Floristry Diploma Course, we explain each lesson in detail. There are step by step diagrams for each step, measurements on how long to cut each stem, exactly where to position each one and a colour photo of each completed design.
