Flower Arrangement In A Metal Container

This arrangement is placed in a tall metal container and is suitable for table centrepieces for a wedding reception or other special occasion.

A variety of flowers in shades of pink, burgundy and purple have been made into a posy.

The posy is surrounded with large leaves and gathered pieces of tissue paper.

For a different finishing touch small sprays of flowers have been tied to several of the streamer ends.

Method

1. Cut the flowers to the desired length and remove the foliage from the bottom third of the stems, as foliage left standing under the water line will pollute the water.

2. Start by holding the centre flower between the thumb and first finger of the left hand about one third down from the base of the flower head.

3. Add the other flowers one by one in a round posy shape criss crossing the stems where you are holding them, having the posy higher in the centre to form a rounded shape.

4. Place large leaves around the edges of the posy and tie the stems together with sting or twine.

5. Place gathered pieces of tissue paper around and secure with a long piece of 22 gauge wire.

6. Several long pieces of very narrow tear ribbon have been placed on top of each other and wired across the centre to form streamers and placed around the edges of the posy.

7. A few stems of small flowers have been placed together to form a small spray and tied to the ends of some of the streamers.

8. Fill the container three quarters of the way with water and place the posy in the container. Arrange the tissue paper and streamers to sit nicely in position.

9. Top the container up with water every couple of days.
