Floristry and Floral Design School

Hello Dear Subscribers,

Being able to create beautiful flower arrangements is interesting, enjoyable and fun.

The photograph on the left shows flowers arranged in a natural way in a glass vase.

To create this type of arrangement, half fill the container with water.

Cut the foliage stems to the desired length, at least one and a half times the height of the container.

To cut down on bacteria, remove any excess foliage from the lower part of the stems that will come under the water line.

Place the foliage stems on an angle in the vase, so the tips of the foliage extend over the edges of the container. Fill in the centre with foliage.

By placing the foliage in the container first like this, it will help hold the flower stems in position.

Cut the flower stems to the desired length. Remove any excess foliage from the lower part of the stems that will come under the water line and insert them on an angle in the container. Fill in the centre with flowers.

Check that the flowers are evenly positioned in the arrangement. Spray lightly with water and top up with water every few days.

Optional - A bow can be added to the design. We teach you step-by-step how to create different types of bows in our floristry course.

This arrangement is briefly explained.  In our Floristry Diploma Course, we explain each step in detail with diagrams for each step and measurements on how long to cut each stem and exactly where to position each placement.
