Flower Girl Circlet

Hello Dear Subscribers,

In this months newsletter, I am featuring floral designs that one of our students enrolled in our Floristry Home Study Correspondence Course has made.

Wendy has made this flower circlet and buttonhole very nicely, and her presentation of photographing them against a backdrop of white tulle netting on mauve silk shows them off beautifully.

This flower circlet, suitable for a flower girl to wear in her hair, was made using roses, stock florets, gypsophila and leaves.

I am sure a little flower girl would be delighted with this as the shades of pink and purple look so pretty together.

The rose buttonhole or boutonniere can be worn by the groom or groomsman.

To make the flower circlet, the stems of the flowers and the leaves have been cut short and each one wired separately.

The gypsophila has been wired in small clusters.

Each wire stem was covered with floral tape for about 5cm (2"). Each one is wired separately, so they can then be placed in the desired position.

Heavy eighteen gauge wire has been taped together and used as a base wire.

The leaves and flowers have been taped evenly along the base wire which is then formed into a circle and secured together at the back with floral tape.

For the buttonhole the stems of the rose, three leaves and a piece of fern have been cut short and each wired and taped separately. It was assembled taping the wire stems together.

This floral design is briefly explained. In our Floristry Diploma Course, we explain each lesson in detail. There are step by step diagrams for each step, measurements on how long to cut each stem, exactly where to position each one and a colour photo of each completed design.

Here are a couple of testimonials from our students
